THETAXRECEIPT.COM ("we," "the site") is a satirical tax-estimate tool. This page explains what data we collect and what we do with it. Short version: almost nothing, and what little we do collect, we don't sell.
Every number you enter into the calculator — income, filing status, state, property tax, dependents, actual federal tax — is processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. None of it is ever sent to our servers, logged, or stored anywhere. We have no idea how much you make, and we designed it that way on purpose.
If you use the "Get Next Year's Receipt Automatically" feature, we store the email address you provide, along with the date you submitted it. That's it — no name, no income data, nothing else attached to it.
We use your email for exactly one purpose: to contact you when next year's version of the tool is ready. We do not sell it, share it with third parties, or use it for any other marketing.
You can ask us to delete your email at any time — see Contact below.
If you tip via the "Tip the Developer" card button, you're taken to Stripe's own checkout page — we never see or store your card details. That transaction is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy. Bitcoin and Monero tips are just wallet addresses; no transaction data passes through this site.
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare, as our infrastructure provider, processes standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, request timing) for security and performance purposes, governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
We don't use cookies, analytics, or any third-party tracking scripts. There's nothing here to track you with, so there's no cookie banner.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
